Women’s Health Physiotherapy: Supporting Women Through Every Stage of Life
What Is Women’s Health Physiotherapy?
Women’s health physiotherapy is a specialised area of physiotherapy designed to address the unique challenges women face through various stages of their lives.
Women’s health physiotherapists are specially trained to help women manage a wide range of conditions related to pregnancy, postpartum recovery, pelvic health, musculoskeletal concerns and menopause.
As 1 in every 3 women over the age of 40 describes some level of urinary incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse is common, pelvic floor health is an extremely important part of Women’s Health physiotherapy.
Pelvic floor treatment is based around a tailored exercise programme aiming to improve muscle strength and control, and may include education, exercise prescription, pelvic floor rehabilitation, manual therapy, posture correction, and lifestyle advice.
